Title

Louise Elliott and Jamie McKenzie on Convention Philomathean Day Photograph, June 23-28, 1952

Description

Louise Monning Elliott, the first national president of Phi Mu, and Jamie McKenzie pose together on Philomathean Day during the 1952 Centennial Convention in Macon, Georgia. Elliott is wearing a dress that dates back to her days as a college student, and McKenzie is in her graduation dress and hat from 1897. McKenzie is quoted as saying "I studied elocution in this hall and I bet I can still be heard." A note on the back of the photograph indicates that she was the only one they could hear that morning.
