1970 National Convention

1970 National Convention

Some longstanding traditions were altered or eliminated during the 31st National Convention as Phi Mu sought to combat negative attitudes toward Greek organizations. The term "pledges" was replaced with "provisional members" and the fraternity information examination for membership was eliminated. Another change allowed alumnae to wear the Phi Mu badge in a "ring, pendant, bracelet charm, or brooch." The 1970 convention also saw the first collegiate chapter Panhellenic awards and the first use of an Idea Bank for free discussion of a variety of topics.
