Loss of Alpha Chapter, 1914

In late spring 1914, the Wesleyan College administration banned all Greek-letter organizations on campus. The trouble had been brewing for years, even before nationalization, but the final decision still came as a shock to many. Nellie Hart (Prince), the National President at the time, had visited Wesleyan in May and noted that "there was not the slightest suspicion of trustee action, which a few weeks later caused removal of fraternities."
