Centennial Celebration, 1952

Phi Mu celebrated its centennial in 1952 with one of the most elaborate events in Fraternity history. The celebration began on January 1st, and events were planned throughout the year, culminating in the Centennial Convention held at Wesleyan in June and continuing on through December. In addition to the Centennial Convention, official events included "Birthday Balls" at many chapters and the centennial Founders' Day services on March 4, 1952. Phi Mus across the country, and as far away as Guam, celebrated Founders' Day with their collegiate and alumnae chapters by wearing rose and pink ribbons under their badges and being on hand for an historic cutting of the birthday cake. During the convention in June, a gift of three hand-wrought, multi-branched brass chandeliers was presented to Wesleyan College for the main dining hall.
